Last P town, really !

P town
Selfie.

so yesterday we left the Cape and found our way to Melville pond in Rhode Island. we had a quick appointment with the Mobile RV repair man, he replaced a blown A/C unit under extended warranty. Good deal! Here are the last Provincetown images, bit boring but ZI had fun taken them between 5 am and 10 am. the town comes alive slowly, fisherman first taken out their diesel lobster boats, then the pleasure vessel captains cleaning the puke and slipperiness from last nights party booze cruise. Early birds at the plentiful coffeeshops in town. Service is abysmal as the servers are not awake yet. Empty streets, thick fog making it’s way thru the outskirts of town, trying to smother the days upcoming madness. I love the flip side of a busy popular place , you really only get to see it at 5 am , beginning of a new day or at 5 am, the end of an old day.  Beaches are empty and virgin at that time, cleaned and wet , ready for another batch of sun worshippers. Best times we’ve had are around those hours.

Tomorrow Cape Ann , Massachusetts . See you then.

Goodbye East Coast

we love the water, love the coasts ,beaches, rocky shores ,tidal pools to wade in and get your toes nipped at, picturesque villages where fishing is serious business and boats gets lost at see. we love the high dunes of cape cod and the wild waters going to Nantucket Island. There is something so peaceful looking out over the lake or over the ocean. water covers 4/5ths of the earth and is about the only undiscovered place out there. I feel we’ve discovered how important water is to us, after all , where would the lobster rolls come from if not the cold northeastern seas. We’re driving across Massachusetts , New Hampshire, Vermont to Plattsburgh New York for a last Hurray to a great vacation. after that, its back home to our beloved girls at the office( better start kissing some a** before coming back). we missed them!!!🤪

Next photos will be family pictures of the wildly growing cousins partying and relaxed aunts and uncles snoozing and enjoying each others company , see you tomorrow .

Beacon Hill.

beau to the kennel for the fourth time in his life, loves it , no really loves it!! we drove to Boston for a day a sightseeing like DC and New York. Boston is not the same though, not as easy to find interesting and impressive places. I think you have to know this city to really appreciate it. Quincy Market used to be special but now felt more like a mall foodcourt. might be me getting older and wanting more authentic stuff to visit. walked the park and beacon Hill then to Boylston Street and shopping at Eataly for our food night at camp. taxi back drove home along the coast , most beautiful little village is Marblehead, tucked away past witching Salem  and Beverly, 2000 moorings for the locals sailboats, we found a fort at the tip of the marble head and overlooked a forest of masts and another lighthouse.  nice day and happy to have beau back .

Another perfect day comes to an end.

Whales of Cape Ann.

2018-46-41
White Belly Dolphins …..so smooth and gracious!

So this was the perfect whale watch , or as good as it gets . Large boat , with a 149 people and your friendly photographer. I was early, so I sat myself down on a nice bench with table. All to myself. nearly 3/4 of all the passengers went upstairs so they can look down upon the whales I guess. I had a coffee, egg sandwich and an empty cabin.  The trip out was about an hour and calm seas passing a myriad of lighthouses of all make and size. maybe I took a few too many photos of them . Ah who cares. so we started with a few small Minky whales , then a group of 5 fin whales, about 60 tons and over 70 feet long very impressive spouts and back fins. Then it was out lucky day and we were surrounded by at least 50-70 white belly dolphins, very fast they catapulted themselves thru the water in front besides and behind the boat. They were everywhere, awesome site. Then to finish it off one old but very much alive Humpback whale , they are the showstopper with their tail coming out of the salt water dripping like a thirsty shower, four breaths and the tail again. beautiful. When the Captain gave the last one sign, before turning around to port , people burst into a spontaneous applause..

Here are the visuals, movie time in the Lady!

Ready for rental

A short two hour drive took us from Newport to Cape Ann just north of Boston. In my former life we used to drive to the Cape for the weekend and did some amazing dives at Folley Cove and other rocky beaches around Cape Ann. Gloucester and the Fishing Boat the Andrea Gail is the town and boat on which Sebastian Junger based his book the Perfect Storm. My friend Tom Canfield and I , I remember very vividly, went to Newport on the day of the perfect storm, Great experienced divers as we are we didn’t check the weather forecast and found ten feet high rollers coming into our dive spot. That did teach us. Here are some images of an early morning on cape Ann, Rockport to be specific, a small village on the eastern tip of the Cape, little touristy but an amazing shoreline and still working Lobster Economy.

one happy dog.

so a little more stuff from our last day on Cape Cod. after this we have to drive back to Newport to have one of our A/C units replaced. It blew in Georgia 4 weeks ago and we found a traveling RV repair man who is really god and we scheduled this, happy extended warranty!. The evenings on the beach were really what made our time here special, 20 people maybe to enjoy the sunset, many dogs loose on the sand playing digging and having a great time. Why don’t we have times where dogs can go on the beach. I think we have one day a year! big deal.

Stone Salad with Soup !

So as promised here is the awesome house, you might not think a lot of it , but study the pictures a bit closer, see what is embedded in the handmade stone wall , look at the snake crawling up the wall, its tail is bordering the footpath, The statues are dynamic and very intricate, the plants beautiful , so much to see, look at the cat fence, Cheryl this one you should copy for your balcony. It is a private house, maybe very well known in P town. For me it was a find and an amazing one. Someone who is that creative and versatile should be famous. maybe he or she is.

Anyone know?

Goodbye to P-Town

2018-43-3

we’ll miss the cape, relaxed, beautiful, salty, long beach sunsets with the dog, lobster rolls with roasted buns, cool breeze, hot sun, free people, happy place!.

here is an overview of P-Town, of what to expect next time you’re going to explore yourself!

galleries with junk and galleries with pretentious stuff and some are well thought out or passionate . restaurants some real good , some bad, some blah…… Lobster Pot is the epitome of touristy AND awesome food and service and location. Rocks.!

Every day we walked Beau on the beach for Sunset, him digging holes , us drinking a glass of leftover wine and sun glow in our eyes, Vacation is good . Too bad its so short!😂😂😂😂😂

We were famous in Provincetown…..

Tomorrow a real awesome house I found, with too many eccentric, original touches.
