Late sleep, coffee in the 70 degree northern sun and dropped Dee off at the bar Harbor Inn ad Spa. Toes, Muscles and other facial imperfections are being attacked by a Eastern European imperfectionist. (Loves weird skin stuff). Ok ,I’m on my own and an whole island waiting to be conquered by my camera. Well we will see… here is my bounty for the day.

Great tandem drive from P-town to bar harbor, we left at 6 am and got here ,400 miles later, at 4 pm. Picked up the rental car and got a great spot on Mount Desert Island, right next to Acadia national park.
More to follow.
Heres more to follow, we got here at 4 after a great easy drive from P-town, I have been here before with my, according to Deidre , imaginary first wife. ( This is Diana were talking about alright!!!. So I should remember something about the place, No way , only know I like Lobster ….everyday!. Fortunately so does my not so imaginary second wife. We have had lobster rolls at least once a day since we entered New England. Yammie, each one better then the last one. That night we went to Beals and had an amazing Lobster roll on the water in the fog . So on day one we got up early , walked a mile or so to Echo Lake with Beau and got our 2.5 mile walk in for the day. In the car to Bar harbor, made reservations for the Spa for Dee the next day and found a nice spot to relax on the rocks overlooking the soup thick fog. There were boats out there but we only heard them , spooky!. Beau messed up the relaxing hour and we head back home to drop of the lady. I went to get some shots after that. It’s a photographers paradise, can’t go wrong even in the mist. perfect day! At night Lobstah again. O and also Lobster for Lunch on the warf with Beau. Sick of Lobster…. no way, takes more, but by the time Robert gets hi at camp, dont know if I want a steak instead ?
Here are some of my favorite pics from week one, let me know if you like anything, leave a comment, let m,e know what you would like to hear about or not hear about. No profanities please, remember I’m an innocent Dutch transplant!

jelly legs and satisfied sweat, back from my bike trip the cold RV was a welcoming place. Deidre was taking a rest after the office devils drained her of her essence. I needed a plan to recharge her brain.! Boating! , of course , she loves being on the water, would the inner harbor of P town give her the same satisfaction as the azure waters of our home keys. Worth a try!
We took a leisurely stroll out to the docks, had a cocktail at a roadside dive-bar, and embarked on our cruise to Long Point. Just a far away beach with lighthouse and peace and quiet from the streets of gayland. But guess what, upon landing on this Deserted Peninsula we were greeted by Beau’s wet family members. Deidre was immediately recharged and her Dog Mama ( or Dogma) instincts took over. She talked kissed and rolled around with the friendly seals until it was time to return to town. All thought of business forgotten.
Here is proof of our afternoon and finishing off with a Sunset at the beach.

so we liked it here so much that we decided to stay another day. First did the nasty RV business, men’s job, dump the sh**t. Move camping spot and set up again. all in 30 minutes. Deidre had to work a bit and I went for a bike ride thru the dunes. The national park there is the shore line with beautiful dunes ,woods and lakes , of course beaches rule on the Cape. No white sand like back home, brown heavy coarse sand and lots of smooth pebbles . The water was refreshing on my feet and very clear, saw little fish and my future dinner swimming along the shore. ( Calamari without the breading, they dont know what coming!). Biked thru the dunes for about 12 miles stopping for pictures , very , very nice. Here are some of the shots from that morning and midday bike ride.
Yeah Right.
This is where Santa gets his inspiration for new toys.
Great night slept with the windows open , cool outside air in the bedroom, not used to that anymore. Walked the dog , supermarket for carpet cleaner, fixed a Fanta spot on the carpet, downtown for more lobster rolls and good spirits. These lobster rolls at The Lobster Pot are truly a work of art, must have a pound of meat on them , lightly bathed in a herb/mayo dressing and stuffed in a large roll. Doesn’t get any better then that. Deidre went home for a short(?) nap, and I’m out shooting the town, Love to do this in new places , just wander around without a plan and I always seem to find good images to steal.
Here are some from that walk. (click on them to enlarge)
What a great place, can’t write right now, gotta be a bear!
Deidre going thru a deep tunnel at Baltimore
So a little bit about our time in Provincetown, after a night at the Newburgh KOA , badly planned by us, we voted on a night in P town, its been 30 years for me and even longer for D. What a fun place, Gay headquarters for sure, you would feel out of place as a woman/man couple if we weren’t so happening!😂.
The main drag! was packed every night with very happy or gay people , I learned about Bears, splashes and Tea parties. Very educational for an innocent dutchie. But of course we are after the Lobsters. The Lobster Pot came HIGHLY RECOMMENDED and it was worth the wait in Lobster Meat .
Great galleries, stores with actual original stuff and just one store we had ever heard of.
There must be over 15 small theaters with original plays going on every night. Galleries galore, really good restaurants, we are 3 for 3 and had memorable meals. Lobsters rule of course, Deidre had two Lobster rolls on day 1 and I had a unbelievable Bouillabaisse , best ever. O and did I mention this is a gay town, The main drag is commercial street and is one big party all day and night. The Bears, men, are beautiful, very happy ,outrages and proud. They hold hands and are a pleasure , now the women are called splashes and they dont seem as happy, must be me though, Deidre calls me Borderline, what does she know!!!
Random Gay Couple on the streets!

So we bought this humongous RV a year ago, long story, not for now though. This summer we are taking her from South Florida to Maine , thru Eastern Canada, Nova Scotia to Quebec, week long reunion at Lake Champlain and back to Florida. All this in a 44,000 pound behemoth, with one teenager, one 2 year old lab and us, Deidre and Ron. Enjoy our adventures however small they might be, we are loving this.
Pocahontas State Park
Great visit from our old (45) friend Juan , his bride to be Lauren and son Aiden.
So a little bit about Pocahontas…..
a few years ago ,when we started our RV madness, we decided to stop at this park on our way to Plattsburgh. The sites were some of the most beautiful we have ever seen , even up to this day, we remember sitting in our chairs and admiring our brand new Hurricane RV. We stayed a few days , walked thru the maple and pines forest and had an amazing time. So….we went back this time with our big rig, dog and nearly 15 year old son. Cayman kept saying how much he liked it here and was more outside then he has been the whole summer vacation . The place is immaculate, gorgeous and we will go back there as much as we can.
Now on our way to Newburgh
same trip four years ago we ended up at the Newburgh KOA . Fond memories again, this time not so much. They wanted to put us in the worlds ugliest spot , sorry I’m a snob, and we insisted on another one , which was mucho better. We decided not to stay two days and got up early, well Deidre did, made me coffee, walked the pooch and cleaned the area. we were back on the road at 8. Decided on Provincetown for the next stop. more to come
